Hey guys,
If you haven't seen, there've been a couple announcements on the discord that explain what's been going on lately, but the main takeaway is, I'm done. It's almost 1am, and I just fixed the last known error. There will be no more features. There will be no more bug fixes. There will not be any real upkeep, at least not from me. The only last change I'm gonna make is CI and github ones, so people can edit the server if they want, which is pretty unlikely in itself (the pull requests getting responded to by me is even less likely, I'll have to ask someone else or you can just fork it).
Bottom line is, I want this to be over. I want the stress to be out of my life, and the constant lingering task of this godforsaken minecraft server out of my brain. I just want to be done. In an effort to refrain from saying anything that might open up the possibility of more FallenMC in my life, I'm going to end this here.
Goodbye, Archonic
FallenMC has released. Play it at play.fallenmc.xyz!
EDIT: The server is no longer up. Thank you for playing!
Hello all! This is going to be a short one, as I just wanted to acknowledge the lack of use of this forum, and also bring to light some of the progress that I've made in recent times.
While yes, I know, I haven't used this forum in quite a while (you can smell the cobwebs), I've actually pulled a sneaky on ya and have been secretly working on the server nonstop, only to the knowledge of a select group of alpha testers, making TONS of improvements and bug fixes. I mean seriously, someone needs to come and stop me. I am absolutely slaughtering these bugs with the ferocity of at least twelve especially ambitious bullfrogs, it's not even funny.
And, just to pile on to the emotional rollercoaster that has been these development updates, many of the testers will tell you that the server is actually going quite well! People have actually, genuinely wanted to play it, and you have no idea how much that means to me, providing motivation to continue what I thought had a good chance of being a broken, unbalanced mess that would fizzle out in a week.*
Anyways, I just wanted to top this message off with the acknowledgement of how far we've come in terms of uniqueness and playability, and my feeling that FallenMC has some really special qualities that could make a reputation not just as a good server, but as a good server that LISTENS TO ITS COMMUNITY (what?!?!?!1!1!one!).
Stay tuned (please im serious dont change the channel for the love of god i am trapped in this message and will die a horrible death if you switch tabs right now please send help),
~ArchMlem/Archonic (swanky name change)
*I mean hey, it's probably still gonna fade out in a week, but who's sayin that it isn't good? ;)**
**Me. I'm saying that.
Hey all, On this episode of Letters to Nobody, I have a very special announcement to make... FallenMC is... Finally... FINISHED!*
Now, I'm sure the three of you are beyond excited, but there is a small catch. Remember that alpha testing I told you about earlier in the first development update? No? Well, the server is CONTENT-complete, but it is still most likely riddled with bugs and unreleasable in its current state.
That's why, for the next 2-3 weeks, FallenMC will be undergoing a thorough round of alpha testing, in which a select group of testers will attempt to absolutely obliterate the server in any way, shape or form. They will then send feedback to me, who, unable to find all bugs on his own (what an idiot, lol), will try his best to fix the no doubt wide array of errors and glitches as they arise. This will hopefully serve as a means to "break in" the shoes of the average player as they begin their FallenMC journey later this month, easing out the glitch-filled bumps in their journey.
If YOU want to become a part of the closed alpha testing group, message me on Discord (click the tab at the top, I'm Archonic#1070). We need testers, so if you're willing to be active, please don't hesitate!
This server has been my hobby for quite some time, and I'm honestly very proud of what me and 1 iq have spent over 3 years slaving over. I know that this has been quite the turbulent expedition, but under all of FallenMC's layers of flaws, inconsistencies, horrible code, and errors is something I believe to be a genuinely unique and fun Minecraft experience. If you're even the least bit interested, please stay with us, as there's a strong chance you'll enjoy what we have in store.
Thank you so much for sticking with us (the ride is almost over, I promise), Archonic/Drmlem
Hello again!
Welp, I kept my promise. Kind of. I know, I know, this hasn't exactly been 2-3 business days, but I promise you that I have been doing anything other than procrastinating for at least a little bit. By the way, extremely sorry about not getting this out sooner, I took a brief pause from developing to, ironically, play on another popular minecraft server which shall not be named in this forum.
My main triumph of this week (or, at least, the two days I spent actually coding) is a new, versatile, extremely easy to use Shop framework! This framework will allow me to complete a large portion of the server later on, hopefully very quickly. Since I know I haven't given a media preview in a while, here's a little tidbit of the (pretty dapper, if I might say) style of most of the server's shops from now on: https://bit.ly/3HcNTbX
How about it? Do you like it? Feel free to voice your criticisms and complaints that will surely be adressed at some point in time, and not just ignored forever (seriously though, I will try to take them to heart). I tried to go with more of an original theme, and I think it worked out well, (if I do say so myself).
As I mentioned above, this system is very versatile (glass color/bottom left item can be effortlessly swapped, items/price can be switched on the fly, etc.) , and can be manipulated easily to a large number of things, for which I already have a few ideas! Stay tuned for what might be in store!
Anyways, that's been Mediocre Development Updates with DrMlem/Archonic, and I hope to see you next time!
